90 Years in Business
In 2008 we proudly celebrated our 90th year in business. During this time our company has grown from a simple service bus providing transport to and from the surrounding communities of Caernarfon to one of the most popular and by far the most successful and professional Coach, Holiday and Service bus companies in North Wales and the Wirral.
The number of our customers who joined us for our birthday celebrations in Birmingham in the summer of 2008 is testament to our popularity with our new and existing customers of all ages. On average we carry 15,000 customers a year and travel to the far reaches of UK and Europe, as well as our international flight holidays as far and wide as China and New Zealand. I'm sure you would agree not bad for a 90 year old!!!

Best Coach Tour Operator 2008 Award
Another one of our achievements in 2008 was our success in the Coach Tourism Awards. These awards arranged by Coach Monthly magazine seek to give recognition to the best in the industry and are on a nationwide level. They are nominated and judged by a panel of the best in the industry. Here we were not only nominated but were awarded The Best Coach Tour Operator of the year 2008 award for under 10 vehicles.

Silver Leaf Scheme
The effects of everyday life on the environment is such a big issue in our society these days. A business such as ours can either bury its head in the sand or face the issue head on. Here at Silver Star Holiday we decided to take the latter approach. We understand that any change needs to start with small steps. In the summer of 2008 we proudly introduced an initiative unlike any other in our area, we launched The Silver Leaf Scheme. The idea behind the scheme is to provide trees to the local community to
represent every one of the 12,000 passengers we carry every year. We recognized that in doing so we can make steps towards lowering our carbon footprint, as well as giving something back to the local communities who have supported us for all these years. The people who would benefit from the scheme would be schools, hospitals, community and village gardens, hostels, and many other deserving projects and groups. We have taken on this project in partnership with Gwynedd Council, and the trees have been provided from a locally sourced tree nursery at Glynllifon Park. The response and demand for the trees has been great. We have created an awareness not only with the local children but also with adults, societies and organizations locally, about the environmental issues facing our planet today. We are also hoping, with the continued support of our customers, that many more trees will be planted around North Wales next year. Remember, every time you travel on a Silver Star Coach Holiday you
are supplying a tree for the local area.

Menter a Busnes Business & Enterprise Award
It may have been a few years since we received the National Menter Award back in 2002 but it is something that we are still so proud of. The main aim of the scheme held by Menter a Busnes is to recognise and reward Welsh speakers and companies who succeed in business whilst using and promoting the Welsh language, and making an important contribution to the local or national economy. This is a subject that is close to the heart of our local welsh company and the contribution we make is growing year by year. We were the only local coach company to run 10 coaches down to the National Eisteddfod in 2008 and were proud when
our Managing Director Elfyn Thomas had the honour of joining the "Gorsedd".
